I’m Dr. Tom Farnsworth, a licensed doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) with over ten years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. I began my training at the New England Center for Children in Southborough, MA, and went on to earn both my M.S. and Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis from Western New England University. During that time, I had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with some of the leading experts in applied behavior analysis.
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings: in group homes, in classroom-based day programs, as an in-home BCBA, and as the clinical director of a small clinic. My focus has consistently been on the assessment and treatment of problem behavior, including self-injury, aggression, and property destruction, across a wide range of severity. But my experience is broad and includes teaching functional skills across all domains.
In addition to my clinical work, I’ve served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Western Connecticut State University and as an adjunct professor at the University of Saint Joseph and Sacred Heart University. My research on promoting leisure skills in children with autism has been presented at regional and international conferences, and my work on evaluating computer-based instruction has been published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and the Journal of Behavioral Education.
I started my solo practice to bring compassionate, high-quality ABA services directly to families in my community. By working independently, I can prioritize close collaboration, individualized care, and services that truly fit the needs of each child and family.
I know what’s at stake for families. I’ve seen how quickly dysfunction can escalate without the right support, and I’ve also witnessed the hope and progress that come when families and providers work together.
I challenge families to imagine a future where their child and family are thriving, and I work alongside them to build a clear and practical path to that vision. In all of this, I bring playful, creative energy to my work. I love the children I work with, and I know that trust and joy are just as essential to growth as structure and evidence-based strategies.
